Consent Statement: By using FitWardrobe, you consent to the collection and processing of your personal data in accordance with this Privacy Policy and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India).
AI Disclosure: FitWardrobe uses automated AI-based systems powered by Google Gemini 2.0 Flash for clothing analysis and Groq for conversational styling advice. All AI-generated outputs are provided for informational and entertainment purposes only and may not be accurate, complete, or suitable for all situations.
Privacy-First Architecture: FitWardrobe is built with a local-first approach. Your wardrobe data, including images and outfit combinations, is stored exclusively on your device. We do NOT upload, store, or access your wardrobe content on our servers.
AI and Your Data
We use a hybrid AI approach to protect your privacy while providing smart styling:
- Google Gemini (Image Recognition): Analyzes your clothing photos to identify items and colors.
- Groq (Reasoning Engine): Processes the wardrobe text results to generate outfit suggestions and answer style questions.
Privacy Guarantees: No images or personal text data is used to train AI models. Data is processed temporarily and not stored by our AI providers after the interaction is complete. Learn more in our AI Transparency Center.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Data Provided Directly by You
- Email Address: Required for authentication purposes only via Supabase
- Account Preferences: Display settings, AI preferences, user interface customization
2.2 Data You Create Within the App
The following data is created and stored locally on your device only (not on our servers):
- Wardrobe Items: Clothing descriptions, categories, colors, seasons, formality levels
- Clothing Images: Photos you upload or capture via camera
- Custom Tags: Personal labels and organization systems
- Outfit Combinations: Your saved outfit suggestions and favorites
- AI Chat History: Conversations with the AI styling assistant
Critical Privacy Note: All wardrobe data listed above is stored using IndexedDB (browser) or Capacitor Filesystem (Android app) on YOUR device. FitWardrobe does NOT have access to this data unless you explicitly use AI features that require temporary processing.
2.3 Data Collected Automatically
- Device Information: Device type, operating system version (for app functionality and compatibility)
- Browser Type: Web browser version (web app only, for compatibility)
- App Version: FitWardrobe version number (for support and debugging)
- Download Events: Anonymous download tracking via Google Analytics (no personal identifiers)
2.4 Data We Do NOT Collect

3. How We Use Your Information
We use the limited personal data we collect for the following purposes:
- Authentication and Account Management: Your email address is used solely to create and manage your account via Supabase authentication.
- AI-Powered Features:
- When you use AI clothing analysis, your images are sent temporarily to Google Gemini 2.0 Flash API for processing.
- When you request outfit suggestions, the wardrobe text data is processed by Groq to generate recommendations.
- Images and text are NOT stored by Google, Groq, or FitWardrobe after processing (per standard API terms).
- AI-generated tags and descriptions are returned to your device and stored locally.
- Product Improvement: Anonymous usage analytics help us understand feature adoption and improve the app
- Communication: We may send important service updates, security alerts, or beta program announcements to your email (you can opt out of non-critical emails)
- Legal Compliance: We may process data to comply with legal obligations or respond to lawful requests from authorities

Lawful Basis for Processing (DPDP Act): We process your email address based on your explicit consent during account creation. All other data processing is based on legitimate interest in providing core app functionality.
4. Data Sharing and Third Parties
4.1 Third-Party Services We Use
FitWardrobe relies on the following third-party services:

5. Data Retention
5.1 Server-Side Data (Email Only)
- Email Address: Retained in Supabase while your account is active
- Deletion: Email is permanently deleted within 30 days of account deletion request
5.2 Local Device Data (Wardrobe Content)
- Wardrobe Items & Images: Stored indefinitely on your device until YOU delete them
- Your Control: You can delete individual items, entire categories, or all wardrobe data at any time via the app's settings
- Uninstall: All local data is automatically deleted when you uninstall the app or clear browser data
5.3 AI Processing Data
- Images sent to Gemini API: Not stored after processing (per Google's API agreement).
- Text sent to Groq API: Not stored after processing (per Groq's standard privacy terms).
- AI-generated results: Stored locally on your device only.
6. Your Rights (DPDP Act 2023 Compliant)
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India) and global privacy standards, you have the following rights:
- Right to Access: Request a copy of your personal data (email address) stored by us
- Right to Correction: Update or correct your email address via account settings
- Right to Erasure: Delete your account and email address permanently
- Right to Data Portability: Export your wardrobe data in JSON format at any time

7. Security Measures
We implement industry-standard security practices to protect your data:
7.1 Technical Security

- Local-First Architecture: Your sensitive wardrobe photos and details never leave your device, except for a few seconds during AI analysis.
- No Cloud Storage: We do not keep your photos or items on our servers.

- Limited access to user email addresses (only via Supabase admin panel for support)

7.3 Your Responsibility
To protect your data, you should:
- Use a strong, unique password for your account
- Enable device lock screen security
- Keep your device operating system updated
- Regularly back up your wardrobe data using the export feature
Security Disclaimer: While we implement strong security measures, no system is 100% secure. You use FitWardrobe at your own risk. We are not liable for unauthorized access resulting from device theft, phishing attacks, or user error.
7.4 Security Incident Response
In the unlikely event of a data breach affecting user email addresses, we will:
- Notify affected users within 72 hours via email
- Report the incident to appropriate authorities as required by law
- Provide guidance on protective measures
- Investigate and remediate the vulnerability
8. Children's Privacy
FitWardrobe is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at [email protected]. We will delete such information within 48 hours.
Age Requirement: By using FitWardrobe, you confirm that you are at least 13 years of age. Users between 13-18 should have parental consent.
